Chris Weitz talks with MTV about New Moon and Eclipse

From MTV:

After “New Moon” was finished filming , Summit Entertainment announced that David Slade would be directing “Eclipse.” Weitz said he had some early chats with Slade to let him know what “New Moon” was going to look like and how he had filmed the story, and then let Slade decide how he wanted to film the series’ third installment.

“It was like the transition team, so I could kind of let him know where things are going,” Weitz said. “The transfer of power was very successful. The transition teams coordinated extremely well.”

'New Moon' Director Chris Weitz Talks Bella And Jacob Kiss

"New Moon" trailers have established fairly clearly the basic premise of the film: Edward leaves Bella. Bella is sad. Jacob helps Bella feel better.

For anyone familiar with "Twilight," they know the central love story surrounds the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen. It is the onscreen interaction between stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson that fans are paying their good money to see — to the point, Bella's aural hallucinations in the novel have become visual onscreen, so that the two can have more screen time.

So fans were a bit concerned when they saw what looked to be a kiss between Bella and Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black in the second theatrical trailer. As a quick spoiler, in the novel Bella and Jacob do have an almost-kiss, but it is interrupted.

We asked director Chris Weitz if he fudged the book a bit to sneak in a full kiss between the most present "New Moon" stars.

"I can assure you we're staying very, very close [to the book]," Weitz said. "No one will feel that I have betrayed Edward and Bella's relationship."

Not to worry, "Twilight" fans. At least two "New Moon" trailer shows full-fledged kisses between Bella and Edward, so the film's romance quota has been filled at least twice. It won't be until "New Moon" hits theaters November 20 that we find out if there are any other Bella-and-Edward smooches that have not been revealed.

Eclipse Filming Complete!

Eclipse filming is finially complete. Per Director David Slade's twitter post this morning,

Twilight Eclipse officially wrapped shooting, at 4.30 am October 29th. Physically and emotionally exhausted. DAVID S

Twilight (the movie) Hits the Big Screen...again!

Summit Released today:

Responding to the fans of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, Summit Entertainment announced today that it will re-release TWILIGHT, the first film in the franchise, at select theatres nationwide on November 19th, a day before the highly anticipated release of the movie’s sequel, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON. Despite the first film already being on DVD, fans across the nation have been calling out to see the film once again on the big screen and the studio is honoring their request.

Summit is working with exhibitors to screen TWILIGHT one night only with screenings in the evening just before THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON arrives in theatres. Select theatres will offer tickets at a reduced price.

So will you be getting a double dose of Edward??

MTV: What is your favorite scene in “New Moon”?

Reaser: I love Taylor in “New Moon”; he’s amazing. There are great scenes with Taylor and Kristen [Stewart]. I just think they’re really lovely together. I love those characters together. They’re sort of falling in love, and it’s an interesting love affair, because she’s still in love with Edward, and she’s devastated and heartbroken, and he’s [gone. I also love] the birthday-party scene, because it’s all the Cullens, and it’s Bella’s birthday, and Alice threw together this big party for her. And then she gets a paper cut, and it’s really dangerous for her to get a paper cut at our house.

Has there been a difference in the way you interact as a cast since you filmed Twilight?

We’re putting in these long hours and then just heading home. Usually we just try to catch dinner with each other then get back up the next morning and do it all over again.

Jackson Talks to MTV about New Moon

MTV: Out of the new characters joining the franchise for “New Moon,” which is your favorite?

Jackson Rathbone: My favorite character in “New Moon” that wasn’t in “Twilight”? I guess my favorite character in “New Moon” is a collective — the Volturi. It’s one of those things that’s really nice to see, these decadent older vampires that run this vampire society, if you will. I think they’re an amazing group of actors that we were able to get for the film, and they are very scary and intimidating. They’re all perfect — I mean, Dakota Fanning is a terrifying Jane; absolutely terrifying.

Kellan Lutz: Let Me Do My Own Stunts!

He is known to be fittest of the vampire cast, constantly working out and toning his body. Thus, its not a surprise that Kellan Lutz excelled in several sports including lacrosse, basketball and many more. Next stop on Kellan’s agenda: doing his own stunts.

In a short interview with Black Book magazine, Kellan said that he is preparing his body for the stunts that they are going to do for Eclipse, the third part of the Twilight Saga.

“I want to be the guy who actually gets shot and gets his leg broken but keeps on fighting,” Lutz insists. “I want that to be my face on the screen.”

So if people don’t respond to it, that’s up to them, but I don’t think anyone’s going to be too worried about that. I think there’s quite enough people who are into it.

MTV was able to interview Kristen Stewart during her Allure covershoot last summer. Kristen talked about how Allure wanted to photograph the real her and what’s her favorite look from her photoshoot so far.

“They [the magazine] told me that they just wanted to come and photograph me as the person who I am and not the silent cover girl that you’d expect,” she said. “I like when photographs shoot what’s in front of them—they don’t try and manipulate you how they want you to be.”

Before being cast as Aro in New Moon, Michael Sheen wasnt interested in Twitter. In fact, he only signed on Twitter to dispel the “someone” who was pretending to be him and making him look bad. He doesnt even plan to keep his account. But with fans cheering him on, not to mention when he was cast as Aro his followers grew, the Welsh actor has been finally hook with Twitter and enjoys responding to his fans.

Your Twitter following is so huge! It’s probably safe to say that much of your followers are Twilight fans.

When it was announced that I was going to be in Twilight, I think my Twitter following went up by about 7,000 fans – so I think it might have something to do with that.

A week after being announced as New Moon’s Aro, you joined Twitter, and your first post read,“Someone is pretending to be me. The f***er will rue the day…” Can you explain what that was all about?

The only reason I went on Twitter was because there was someone pretending to be me who sounded like such an idiot, so it was reflecting badly on me. My auntie, who was already on Twitter, let me know there was this person doing this, so I had to go on and say, “This is me.”

When it comes to celebrities, there are so many fake accounts that it’s hard to tell who’s real and who’s not…

I spent a couple of weeks trying to convince people that I was the real me, and it became sort of a “Twit-off” with this pretender. It was Neil Gaiman who eventually made the big difference when he announced that I was the “official” me. I always intended to end it then and not do it anymore, but I just got hooked on it.

The movie will tell a fictional story about a group of high school faculty members who help save their community library after a teacher (Glover) wins the lottery and uses his winnings for the building’s preservation. Although the feature won’t be based on a true story, the library in the film is a real one, and it actually does need saving. In fact, proceeds from ticket sales for “Highland Park” will be going to its real-life renovations.

That’s really awesome that ticket sales are going to help the library!!

Jack Huston Interview

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

IESB: How did you get involved with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? What is it like to become a part of that whole phenomenon?

Jack: I literally just got back last Saturday, from filming my last little bits on it. I went in for David Slade, who’s the director, for another part that was written as a 19-year-old freshman who’s blonde-haired and blue-eyed, which I knew I wasn’t. That couldn’t be less like me. But, I went in and took a very different spin on how the character was written, and went a little nuts in the room, and David and I really got along, so he said, “I wanna get you in this movie somewhere.” So, he called me up a couple weeks later and said, “There’s this other part. Would you like to do it?,” and he offered me that.

IESB: So, who are you playing in the film and how does he fit into the story?

Jack: I play this guy called Royce King, who is the fiancé of Rosalie (Nikki Reed), before Rosalie was a vampire. It’s her backstory. It’s in 1933, during the Great Depression, and he’s a wealthy son of a banker. He’s a blue blood who takes a shine to her, but she’s not as nice as she seems and he has his comeuppance.

Taylor and Robert in ONE magazine!

Twilight actors Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner talked about New Moon – from the change of directors to shifting from Twilight to New Moon, their characters, the constant attention of the paparazzi and their rise to fame.

Both of you have very devoted fans. But have they become too intrusive?

Taylor Lautner: I believe that Robert and I have very different experiences concerning our relationship with the fans. As far as I’m concerned, I still credit them with Twilight. Without their support, the producers would have without a doubt replaced me for the role of Jacob after the first film.
Robert Pattinson: I remember that before the release of the first film, the fans hated me. On the internet I only read bad critiques of myself and it was really difficult to feel all this hate. Back then director Catherine Hardwicke had forbidden me from reading what people said about me on the web. I told her that it was my mother who sent me the links to the forums where they criticized me. Then she advised me to boycott all the emails that my mother sent me! [laughs] All that to say that the frenzy that I spark today doesn’t make me forget the horrors that I read about myself online.
We’ve heard the stories that certain fans act poorly on the filming of New Moon…
Robert: Usually, the majority of them are happy just to watch us film or just get an autograph. But some of them are crazy and recently it’s Taylor who gets them excited…
Taylor: oh yeah, it’s really embarrassing. A forty year old woman insisted on pulling down her pants so that I could sign her! On top of that, my name was printed on her underwear, so that was really strange! Unfortunately, you can’t expect that from all the Twilight fans…
Taylor, you hated the wig that you had to wear in the first film. And yet, it’s still present in the second!
Taylor: Unfortunately I still had to wear the cursed wig in the first part of the film. Even so I have to admit that it is more realistic and makes my head itch less than the first one did. At the beginning of New Moon, we see Jacob as we’ve always known him, friendly, nice, and a little clumsy. But when Jacob transforms physically and truly becomes a werewolf, I finally wear short hair. I don’t believe that Jacob would have been able to seduce Bella with that horrible wig! [laughs]
Robert: I almost had to wear long hair in Twilight, too. During rehearsals, Catherine Hardwicke had the idea that Edward should have a very romantic look with long hair flying in the wind, you know the kind. So she had me get extensions. I sat still for eight hours while a hairstylist put extensions in place and I hated the final result. Fortunately, Catherine respected my opinion and I didn’t film like that.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

What are you filming today?

There’s a lot of action in this [movie], a lot of fight-sequence choreography. Me, Nikki [Reed], and Kellan [Lutz] are working today, and we’re doing another installment of the fight sequences. We’re doing a section of the huge vampire/Cullen/wolf/newborn battle.

What’s it like working with different directors on the same character?

At first, it’s a little difficult; it’s a lot of give and take. Everyone’s different and has their own take on it, but it’s been pretty good. You have to sit down and go, “This is what I’ve been doing, this is why I feel this way,” and you have to take suggestions. Basically, it’s about communication, and it hasn’t been a problem yet.

Your role as Alice Cullen becomes more significant as the series continues. What was your experience filming New Moon?

It was incredible, and I think the timing was right. I’m glad that [my role] wasn’t that big in the first one because I was wide-eyed and nervous. By the second one, I had the time to fully develop this character, and I’m really comfortable with Alice Cullen now. It’s going to be sad to be done with it. I was really excited when I read the script because I had, of course, read the book and you never know how they’re going to translate it, how it’s going to read, and filming it was great. Chris [Weitz, the director] was awesome.

New Moon “is the beginning of a love triangle,” says Taylor Lautner who plays Bella’s best friend and werewolf Jacob. “I get nervous trying to represent Team Jacob in the right way. This guy is some pretty good competition,” admitted Lautner (before a scene with Robert Pattinson). “The fans would love anybody who played Jacob. I’m just lucky to be the one who got the chance.” Thanks to flashbacks, “there is more Edward in the film,” says Weitz. “Viewers will see him more often than Bella sees him in the book.”

This special collector’s edition also takes a look at the chemistry between Kristen and Robert in both their professional and personal lives. Director-turned-matchmaker Catherine Hardwicke says that Pattinson and Stewart had sparks flying between them from the first “Action!” Everyone noticed the connection instantly – especially Pattinson himself. “When I read Twilight, and there are these moony descriptions of Edward as a godlike figure, I thought there was no way I could play him,” he recalls. “But when I got in the room with Kristen, there was a certain chemistry. She’s basically the reason I did the movie.” While filming Twilight, one romantic scene between Pattinson and Stewart told Hardwicke everything she needed to know. “When they were kissing,” she recalls with a smile, “Rob got a little passionate and fell off the bed!” Despite concerns about mixing love and work, the two finally succumbed to their feelings. “They’re genuine, and they’re very talented,” explains costar Ashley Greene of the common ground they share. “It’s like a secret potion that you can’t really pinpoint, but they both have it.”

PEOPLE also reports about all the hoopla surrounding the Twilight phenomenon – the screaming teens, the buzzing chat rooms, the collector dolls. Take it from Ashley Greene, the Twilight frenzy is out of control. “Kellan Lutz and I look at each other and go, ‘What is going on? This is so insane!’” says the actress who plays Alice. “It’s very different from anything that I’ve experienced. But the fans are so passionate. Seriously, this is the coolest job in the world with the best fans.” Craziest Twilight tie-in? Two adjacent corn mazes in Utah, expertly landscaped to spell out Team Edward and Team Jacob.

The cast is already filming part three of the saga, Eclipse, and hopes to begin work on part four, Breaking Dawn, in the not-too-distant future. “We’re all crossing our fingers, and we all want to finish the series,” says Lutz, who plays vampire Emmett Cullen. “And we want Stephenie [Meyer, author] to write more books if she could!”

PEOPLE’s New Moon special issue will be available on newsstands from Friday, October 16 – Monday, November 30.

Billy Burke to star in Highland Park!

Twilight actor Billy Burk will be a teacher in his next film as he and his fellow faculty members will try to save their local library in Highland Park.According to Variety,

The movie will tell a fictional story about a group of high school faculty members who help save their community library after a teacher (Glover) wins the lottery and uses his winnings for the building’s preservation. Although the feature won’t be based on a true story, the library in the film is a real one, and it actually does need saving. In fact, proceeds from ticket sales for “Highland Park” will be going to its real-life renovations.

Filming has already begun and Billy is said to be done with his scenes come October 24th.

Peter Faccinelli interview about New Moon!

Moviefone was able to have a quick chat with New Moon actor Peter Facinelli during last week’s launch of the Sony Vaio last week in New York and he talked about his excitement for New Moon’s upcoming release.

“I think people should be excited about the action that the second one’s going to bring,” beamed Facinelli. “We still have this love triangle between Rob, Kristen and Taylor that grows in the second one, but as a guy I love to see some action too, and we have a lot more action with the werewolves coming out in full form. That’s going to be fun to watch. It’s something that when you read the books you can imagine, but when you see it it’s a whole other thing.

“‘New Moon’ is going to have a lot more action than ‘Twilight,’ which I’m excited about, and then take the action in ‘New Moon’ and double it in ‘Eclipse.’ I get to be a part of that action, which is fun because Carlyle is this calm figure. I think the vampire brawls are going to be exciting.”
When asked about portraying Carlisle onscreen as opposed to the way he is described in the books, Facinelli said he has a pretty straightforward approach.

“As an actor I read the books, then I read them again, then I read them again and then I put them down and read the script, which becomes my main focus,” he explained. “So by the time the [first] movie came out I didn’t remember what was or wasn’t in the books. I just saw the movie as a complete entity in itself. Nothing stuck out in my mind that should have been in the movie.”

MM: Right, well on that note then; how do you think audiences are going to react to the New Moon film?

Charlie: I think it differs from Twilight for a few different reasons. But I think the main reason is this film you can take your whole family to watch and everyone is going to take something out of it. Whereas the first film was a bit of an emotional play between three characters, this one has a lot of action. Chris Weitz is an excellent CGI expert and is obviously very good at directing high-action movies like in the past. This one is, like I said, you can take anyone to this one, it’s got something for everyone. The stakes are up, which is different from the first one as well so it’s going to be an exciting film.

Cameron: Yeah, for this one another part of it that’s really good for people is the last one was really about those three main people, Bella, Edward and Jacob. And now you’re getting so much more. You’re getting the wolf pack introduced, us, the Volturi, introduced and there’s just a lot more elements to it to make it a deeper story.

Interview with A Vampire...

Robert Pattinson is a shy man – and that is evident in his interview with Australia’s the Sun Herald. Robert, who rose to fame via his Edward persona in Twilight, still hasnt grasped his popularity and would rather ignore it. Although once in awhile he has to deal with it and face it head on.

“To be honest, I still don’t really understand what’s going on,” he says. “Like yesterday, I was having lunch down the road. We were in this place for a couple of hours and suddenly there was like 400 people outside on the street. It was just so nuts and it’s like that all the time now.”

“When the second one comes out, then I’ll see how I am. Mostly I can ignore things to quite a big extent and kind of pretend they’re not really happening,” he says, sounding eerily calm.
“I just don’t take any of it seriously. It’s just a job and while it’s a job I love, girls scream out for Edward, not Robert. I still can’t get a date.”

But with the New Moon promotional campaign just around the corner, Robert can now relax compared to the first film.

Robert movie – The Haunted Airman

MTV has an article about a movie Robert Pattinson did called The Haunted Airman. The movie was made 5 years ago and will be available on DVD Tuesday.

Here is a synopsis of the movie:

Flight Lieutenant Jugg (Twilight’s Robert Pattinson), confined to a wheelchair after being wounded in action, arrives at a remote mansion in Wales to recuperate. Suffering from terrible nightmares and visions, he suspects the methods of his psychiatrist, Dr. Hal Burns (Julian Sands). His beautiful aunt, Julia (Rachael Stirling) seems to be the only person he can trust – until circumstances make him doubt even her intentions. Based on the novel “The Haunting of Toby Jugg” by Dennis Wheatley.

Sheen: I just go with the flow, really. I mean, there’s certainly a lot of media attention on it, because obviously, everyone I do an interview with wants to ask about it. So I’m aware of that and I’m aware that there’s a very passionate and devoted following, which includes my own daughter. So , I’m looking forward to being a part of all that. I enjoyed making the film. I like the character very much. I’m very much looking forward to the decibel level I’ve been told about coming from the “Twilight” fans at the premiere.

Speaking of blood, taking on Aro in New Moon.
“There’s so much expectation about the sequel. People who are hooked on the stories have very definite ideas about the character from the second book. So it’s a dilemma. You want to give them what they expect, what they want to see, but you also want to surprise them. My biggest concern has been that everyone would remember that I played a werewolf in Underworld. So it would be a stretch for me to become a vampire. But I just love Aro. I think he has a gentle side even though he’s pretty scary. And I’m just very pleased to have a whole new generation of people I can scare.”

His daughter got a literal kick out of the news.
“I was excited about being in New Moon mainly because I thought it would make my daughter Lily very happy since she loved the books and the first movie. But, she was a bit overwhelmed. It was like when I was kid–if there was something I was really into, the last thing I wanted was my mom and dad to be into it as well. So, at first, Lily got upset and sort of cried when I told her. I think it was just like her fantasy imaginative world suddenly colliding with reality. She did punish me a bit. When she kicked me, I think that was sort of acting out her frustration.”

Why join the bloodsuckers?

“I wanted to see how the other half lived,” Sheen explains with a grin. “Or unlived.”

Actually, Lily, his 10-year-old daughter with Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale, had something to do with his decision. “She is very, very into the books. I know how obsessive she was about them, so I was already predisposed wanting to be in it.”

After he read the first two books himself, Sheen realized why the literary phenom causes teen girls to swoon. “What it has tapped into, at least in the first book, is how it feels to fall in love for the first time. I don’t think you have to be a girl to relate to that.

“The second book captures the utter desolation of losing that first love. I went through that myself, and Stephenie Meyer invokes that brilliantly.”

So what kind of vamp is Aro? “I suppose the Volturi are like the royal family of vampires, and while he is more their spokesperson in the books, he is their leader in the film. He’s got a sort of regality about him.

“I like the way director Chris Weitz describes him. On the surface, he is very charming and very warm, sort of likable and soft. But underneath, you get the sense he is a psychopathic killer. I love playing with that idea.”

Quote from Chaske Spencer "I think Sam is a person that has been thrown into extraordinary circumstances. He's had to sacrifice a lot. Sam is like the chief of police. He's taken on the mantle to be the protector and help guide the other boys who are going through the traumatic experience of becoming werewolves, because there was no one there to guide him along. Bella and Jacob's relationship is not a good thing for Sam. She's in love with a vampire, and it's thrown a wrench into what he's trying to do to protect his people."

**Quote from Taylor: "The hate that werewolves and vampires have for each other goes way back. The treaty is the most important hting, Jacob is always reminding the vampires about the treaty. So we have a scene at the end where Jacob, Bella and Edward are together and Jacob is getting kicked out. Edward is about to leave with Bella and Jacob reminds Edward, one last time "Remember the treaty." {ok this gives me shivers}

**The tattoo the wolfpack members have was designed based on a series of tales the Production Designer, David Brisban, heard while visiting the Quileute tribe. "One thread that really stuck in my mind referenced the twinning of the wolf character having to do with strength and togetherness." It is a double wolf motif and had 6 variations in both black and red, but one was chosen that is all black.

**They used full scale cutouts as a visual reference for the wolves. Each weighed 20-30 lbs and had a hole in the side for someone to use to carry them.

**The wolves were each given characteristics based on the actors playing them, which is linked to the characters in the story. (Same=big and black) (Paul=more muscular and aggressive) (Embry=thinner and smaller)

**It was important to make Jacob's wolf "iconic". In the animation he had to carry himself with an air of pride and nobility.

**The animators studied real wolves in packs to help them get a deeper feeling for the creature they were creating.

**The main model was Jacob's wolf, all the others are based off of that.

**Taylor did his own stunt for the "phase scene" and not only had to leap over Kristen, but was rigged so he'd stop in the air before the transformation. His body was also replaced with a CG version for part of the shot.

**The 1st trailer that was at the MTV awards was a "dress rehersal". They didn't have all the time they needed to put some of the effects in during Jacob's transformation and have since added to it.

**"What's special about Jacob is he's the only one who transforms in mid-air..." quote from Taylor

**The Nomadic or Feral vampires have a new look in New Moon, more elegant, less rock and roll, this was at Chris' direction. The feeling was that they had been on a killing spree and had personal effects from their victims, and thus better clothes.

**Victoria is more stylish, less earthy with clothes that flow and show movement

**Laurent is more stylish, yet Edi asked to keep the bare chest showing under his jacket.

**Rachelle did her stunts during the forest scene where her character is being chased by Charlie and the "hunters". She was swinging through the woods on wires.

**One of the pictures of Rachelle from the companion shows her sitting on the floor in front of a pile of ashes, could this be James??

**Quote from Taylor:"I definatly think it's a prejudice the werewolves have towards all vampires. And, especially for Jacob, it's because Edward Cullen, the guy who has his girl. But, I gotta admit, {the Cullens} are pretty decent vampires"

**Wardrobe for the Cullens was updated. Chris Weitz felt that in Twilight they were a little too seperated color wise from the rest of the people in town. So they added a bit more to the color pallete, staying in the cool realm, but moving away from pastel hues to steel grays and blues.

**Makeup was changed also to make them more translucent, without appearing stark white.

**Wig's changed as well, but in limited ways since they were limited by what was all ready established in the first film. In Twilight Nikki bleached her hair, but for New Moon she is wearing a wig. Laurent's wig was changed from synthetic to one made with real human hair.

**Edward's appartion was seen as a "flame" moving elegantly and fluidly. Chris gravitated toward this because it was like Edward was carrying a torch for Bella.

**For 90% of the film Rob appears in the same suit he wore at Bella's birthday party.

**There is an original flashback to the meadow scene with changed "sparkle effect"

**The film makers wanted to make a fresh interpretation of the "diamond guy" effect, similar to sunight on snow.
"We decided to something based on the sparkle of this statuary marble from Thasos, a Greek Island, which I always kind of thought the author was going for with this vampire effect. It has a kind of crystalline structure, this diamond sparkle. Another inspiration was the way Tiffany lights its diamonds, how the multifaceted surface sparkles when light hits it. From that starting point, we then wanted to enhance those qualities with a slight translucency."

OME!!!!!!!!!!!!
**Edward arrives in Italy wearing the SAME suit he's worn for months. The pristine suit is now threadbare, the jacket is gone, his pants are diry and his shoes are all scuffed up! {ok this is making me cry thinking of it.....poor Edward!!}

**Chris Weitz quote "I think two thousand years of living has made the Volturi slightly nuts, has led them to think they're pratcially gods, and has given them a perverse attitude to human life."

**Bella's first view of the Volturi is in a painting at the Cullen's house. In a magical transition the camera pushes into the painting and takes us back to the past.

**There were two looks for the Volturi, one for the 1800's and one for contemporary. In the 1800's Aro is dressed in the lightest clothing and in the present time he is in the darkest, all showing status and power.

**Michael Sheen quote: "In a way, playing a vampire is sort of like playing Hamlet, there have been so many depictions. Aro is dangerous and deadly and powerful, yet the way he is written he doesn't come across as a sinister Dracula character--Stephenie describes his voice in the book as being feathery and like a long sigh. I love the idea that the vampires, generally, as a species are very attractive to their prey. They're the perfect predators, they've evolved to be able to lure their prey, the humans, to them."

**Kristen quote: "It's funny, the book says they have no regard for human life, but the way Aro treats Edward and Bella is oddly compassionate."

**In the original screenplay Melissa Rosenberg had the idea of having a huge battle with Edward and even Alice fighting and being slung around. Stephenie reined her in and pointed out that Felix would be a challenge enough for Edward.

**The idea of the fight was not to show a superhero battle. "Edward is like the average guy caught in a bad situation."

**Vampire speed for New Moon means "slow motion". We found if you sped up the camera speed it would look silly.

**The fight scene switches from the perspective of Bella watching the fight, to putting the audience in with the vampires as they fought.

**MAJOR FIGHT SPOILER:

At one point Edward's head gets smashed on the marble floor and his vampire skin appears to crack, along with the floor. It seems Edward is done for, but his wound suddenly heals. Chris Weitz spoke with Stephenie and got her approval. Any ideas or questions always went through Stephenie since she has the whole mythology in her head.

Quote from Rob: "All the vampires, especially the Volturi, seem very comfortable with their existence, but they see themselves as monsters. And when they see this human who says, "I love this guy,' they all obviously want that, too. They want ot believe that can happen. So that curiousity, their fascination with that, is essentially what saves him."

**Quote from Michael Sheen: "There are a lot of things involved in the idea of playing someone who's sort of immortal. Aro, for me, has a genuine fascination with people, with vampires, with other beings. He can get caught up in the drama of what's going on for people. He can be delighted by someone one moment, and kill them the next."

**The initial cut of the film was 3 hours. "I know Twilight fans will think 'Three hours of Edward and Bella and Jacob, that would be heaven, But the reality was it was too flabby. So we had to cut down the length, but it was never about cutting scenes, just cutting down the length of scenes." Peter Lambert, editor

**More from Peter Lambert "This is a movie with visual effects and action and horror, but it's really a love story, we're on an emotional journey with the characters. and Kristen, Taylor and Robert were amazing, they were totally into their characters."

**word from Summit President, Erig Feig, "Each book has a central emotional quandry and scope and we've tried to find the right directors for each. Twiligth is raw and real and Catherine Hardwicke was the first director I met with and the only director for that movie. New Moon has more complicated emotions with bigger forces at work, and Chris Weitz was the director with the skill to show that. On Eclipse the challenge is how do you visualize and show an audience that choice has consequences, that Bella is ina crucible of multiple decisions and option? Who can get that David Slade."

**Final word from Chris Weitz "This movie, for me, has been redemptive. I had a difficult go on my last film, where I felt the movie was kind of taken away from me. This movie has been a joy in comparison and I've been able to make use of everything I've learned up to this point, and I've gotten the chance to work with some extraordinary people. Going in, I didn't realize the enthusiasm of the fan base, and that was also inspiring. As Peter Lambert and I sat in the editing room, it gave me an added incentive. I don't think anyone knew there would be this degree of enthusiasm and that there would be this cyclonic snowball effect of books and films feeding on one another to make this amazing cultrual moment."

Damien of OK GO talks about the New Moon soundtrack

In an interview with Buzznet, Damien Julash of OK Go talked about making their song contribution (“Of the Blue Colour of the Sky.”) to the New Moon soundtrack and their inspiration in making it. Here is an excerpt:

Buzznet: What is the inspiration behind “Shooting The Moon” on the New Moon soundtrack?

Damian: The song is about an astronaut involved in a conspiracy. I am not personally a doubter re: the US moon landing, but the story fascinates me. The story, that is, that would be, were the conspiracy theory true. One of the most iconic heros of all time would have to live with the guilt. He’d have to keep such a heavy, terrible secret: that this huge historical watershed was a cynical lie. As the basis of a song, it let me get at a feeling that I otherwise have a hard time describing, the feeling of dread and conviction at the same time. Of wanting to say it’s going to be OK, when in fact it probably isn’t. It’s a feeling I have a lot. The hero knows the only way to make things better in the long run is to unleash this awful truth which is going to break everyone’s heart.

Buzznet: Did you create this song with the intention of having it on the New Moon soundtrack? Was “Shooting The Moon” recorded at the same time that you recorded your songs on your upcoming album?

Damian: It was recorded along with the songs on our new album, but it was a perfect fit for New Moon. Our record’s already nearly an hour long, so we could afford it let this one go on to greener pastures. Which is no euphemism. The song is in such great company on this soundtrack that it’s probably happier in its new home.

Buzznet: What is your favorite song off of the original Twilight Soundtrack?

Damian: I like the Iron and Wine song a lot.

Buzznet: If you were to have to choose 1 OK Go song to “set the mood” for Bella and Edward, what song would you play?

Damian: Hmm. I’m gonna give a few answers. Sorta depends on their mood. They’re both earnest types, so perhaps the super-honest love song is the way to go. There’s one on our new album called Last Leaf, in which I tell the woman I love that I will wait for her forever, which, sentiment-wise, seems pretty on-the-nose for B&E. But whether it’d get them feeling randy, I don’t know. There’s a dancier love song called “I Want You So Bad I Can’t Breathe,” and again, bingo, right? Or do vampires breathe? To me, the sexiest song on the record is this one that we’ve already released online called “Skyscrapers.” But I have sorta different parameters for sexy than most folks; it’s probably only advisable as an aphrodisiac for the slow-jam inclined.

Jamie Campbell Bower promotes New Moon at the Sitges Film Festival

Volturi member Jamie Campbell Bower was in Barcelona, Spain this weekend to promote The Twilight Saga: New Moon at the Sitges Film Festival. Jaime met with the press and fans, where he answered questions about the film, his character and many more.

Jaime was also interviewed by Que.es where he talked about being involved in the Twilight Saga – the phenomenon, the fans, his character, his upcoming role in Harry Potter and his future projects.

The young actor Jamie Campbell, who plays Cauis in the movie “New Moon”, the sequel of “Twilight”, hit the Festival of Sitges like a storm although he acknowledged in this interview that he wasn’t prepared for a phenomenon like this.

Only 20 years old, Jamie Campbell is already an idol and can say that he´s worked with Tim Burton in Sweeney Todd and Guy Ritchie in RocknRolla. On top of that, he has participated in two of the biggest movie franchises worldwide, not only does he have a part in the Twilight Saga, he also takes the role of young Grindelwald in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

The actor talked to Que! about his background, his participation in NM and the galactic phenomenon that is Twilight.

-Were you aware how much your life was going to change once you accepted the role of Cauis?
- It was a big surprise. I didnt expect something like this, it´s incredible.

- Are you prepared to face such a fan´s phenomenon like the one behind Twilight?
- I am not prepared at all; I´ll take it as it comes. In fact I dont see myself as a celebrity so I dont get it. It is such an honour that people want to take pictures with me and ask for autographs, but to me it´s incomprehensible.

-How you value your experience in HP?

- I am excited. I play a young Grindelwald and the only thing I can say is that he does a very bad thingand steals something.

-Has you seen vampire movies to prepared for you character in NM?
- I like a lot the vampire movies, but I didnt see them in order to prepare for the role. Now, I did read the books and searched the internet a lot to figure out how the fans wanted me to play Cayo.

-Why do you think they choose you for the part?
- I worked very hard, the casting went very well and I gave them what they were looking for.

-Would you change anything of your previous interpretations?
-No, I wouldnt. If my work would have been excellent from the beginning then it would have been impossible to improve.

- What is your main virtue as an actor?
- My hair (laughs)

- How you remember the experience of working with Tim Burton?
- Tim Burton is a genious. It was incredible working with him; he has an incredible mind. It was my first role and I was scared, but he was really cool.

And Johnny Depp?
- He is very nice and charming. It was a pleasure working with him and it was amazing to see how he works

- What are your plans for the near future?
- I have a part in a TV show called “The Prisoner”, which is going to debut this november 15th. Also I´ve just finished working in “London Boulevard”, a movie with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley.

Are you aware of the things people write about you in blogs and the internet?
- Not really. I am not aware of what´s really going on and I dont want to obsessed about it either. I do have a Twitter account though.

- What do you like to do in your free time?
- I like to play pop rock and hang out with my friends.

- what would you say to someone who doesnt know the story of Twilight to convince him/her to watch the movies?
- I´d say that it is a very good love story with vampires, a proved success formula.

Pitchfork has an interview with St. Vincent. She and Bon Iver sing Rosyln on the New Moon Soundtrack.

Pitchfork: You’re on the New Moon soundtrack with Bon Iver, doing a song called “Rosyln”. How did that happen?

Annie Clark: Justin [Vernon] and I met at Bonnaroo, and it turns out we were both fans of each other. Afterward, we got to talking about doing some kind of collaboration. He had this song that he’d been kicking around, and he sent it to me. It was beautiful, as you can imagine. I ended up working on it with him, and then it turned out that the Twilight people were interested in the song being on their soundtrack.

Edward on Sci-Fi Mag

Thanks to Twilighters Anonymous, we now have a scan of Robert Pattinson in the cover of Sci Fi Magazine December 2009 issue. Here is a small excerpt of the article inside:

With Weitz watching intently, Lautner moves behind Bella and gently fastens a magical-looking necklace around her neck just as Robert Pattinson, covered in vampire makeup and sporting yellow contact lenses, appears in Bella’s view, much to the delight of scores of onlookers who gather around the outskirts of the filming location for a peek. Stewart then moves over to Pattinson and stands on a riser to kiss her co-star while everyone else watches and wonders if this is really Bella kissing Edward or if this is just Bella’s dream. (pp 46-47)

Weitz: “My vision for New Moon has been to work with a full range of colors so that the film looks somewhat like a Victorian painting in terms of using medieval jewel-like colors and lots of glossy blacks. I wanted the
film to have a classical kind of look.” “It’s a story about heartbreak and loss and reunions. Beyond that there’s vampires and werewolves, but what’s great about the books is that the genre elements are grounded in characters and human feelings that everyone can identify with.” (pg. 49)

New Moon in Empire Magazine

New Moon is in the November issue of Empire Magazine which is available on newsstands now. There are two posters included in the issue, one of Edward and one of Bella, plus interviews with Chris Weitz and Taylor Lautner.

Here is a little excerpt from the issue from on article at empireonline.com:

“You’ve got the werewolves coming in,” said Weitz, “and the effects are going to be great on that part of the movie. Also, there’s more fighting and that should appeal to the boys. There is also a male character, Jacob, who is inherently a more viable character for most boys because he’s like an ordinary guy. He works on cars, whereas Edward is a perfect man, and maybe he only appeals to perfect men. That makes the demographic rather small! So there’s more of a way into this one – we do hope to up the male demographic!”

Lautner, who’s put on a huge amount of muscle to bulk up for the role, said of his role, “In Twlight, Jacob is this happy-go-lucky kid, but in New Moon when he shapeshifts into his wolf self, he becomes a totally different person. It was almost a split personality in the same movie and sometimes even in the same day.”

Nordstrom New Moon Sweepstakes!

Clothing retailer Nordstrom is offering Twilight fans the chance to be among the first to see the much-anticipated follow-up to Twilight, New Moon and attend the movie’s premiere.

The company will hold an on-line sweepstakes that will allow fans to win tickets to the Nov. 16 premiere of the film and will give out advance tickets upon purchase of their new line inspired by the series. The line will debut on Oct. 15 but not all Nordstrom stores are participating. Participating stores include those within and surrounding the following markets: Atlanta; Baltimore; Boca Raton, Fla.; Boston; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Los Angeles; Miami; Orange County, Calif.; Paramus, N. J.; Portland, Ore.; Sacramento; Salt Lake City; San Diego; San Francisco; Scottsdale; Seattle; and Washington, D.C.

First look at “Slow Life” from the NM Soundtrack!

We have yet to hear a studio version of “Slow Life”, Grizzly Bear’s duet with Beach House singer Victoria Legrand that will appear on, of all things, the Twilight: New Moon Soundtrack. But fortuitously enough, Grizzly Bear and Beach House are on tour together right now, and they’ve worked the song into their set list. Last night, both bands played at the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri, and reader Jeneen Garchow sent along footage of Grizzly Bear and Legrand playing the entire song.
From the sounds of things, “Slow Life” is exactly what you’d want from a Grizzly Bear/Beach House combo: a luminous, ethereal slow jam with Legrand and Ed Droste’s voices delicately pushing up against each other. Also of note: That crowd sounds amped.

Charlie Bewley on Filming New Moon and his Volturi Family

Charlie Bewley talks about playing Demetri in New Moon and also gives a take on the members of the Volturi.
He talks about filming in Italy:
“Italy was a dream. Very surreal. I think everyone there, no matter who it was, Rob [Pattinson], Kristen [Stewart], [director] Chris [Weitz] or anyone else would say that it was an experience that they may never go through again. The hospitality of the whole thing, the way they treated us, the whole setting was so magnificent.
He also talks about how he see the character of Demetri:
“[Demetri] has a lot of misplaced energy, or a lot of unused energy, and that kind of manifests in his behavior…..I did the whole animal thing, and I just worked out that he was this killer housecat – just in the way he is and his attention is fairly ADD….. He just wants to run or chase. But he’s very kind of confined within this sort of mafioso arrangement that the Volturi coven is.”

Of Daniel Cudmore aka Felix :
Dan is really funny. He has this running monologue on life that he just mumbles s–t all day long. Dan’s a really cool guy; we get on really well. His character is ruthlessly efficient and strong. He’s an enforcer.
Of Dakota Fanning aka Jane:
Dakota is wonderful. I love her to bits. She’s so cool. I can’t wait ‘til she turns 18. Her character is dangerous. She’s quite unnerving as a person. She’s very quiet, very quiet because she’s a very kind of centered person. She’s got red contact lenses on her eyes, which is very unnerving.
Of Christopher Heyerdahl:
Very observant. Very cool guy. Just knows a lot of stuff. He’s been around. You sit around him and feed off him and soak him up. The way he talks as Marcus is so dead. His voice is so dead. He’s got this 3000-year-old voice, and he just wants to die. It’s addictive to listen to, how low he gets.

The Mexican magazine Joy has a new interview with Robert Pattinson:

There are actors who would die to be in your shoes. Would you say that it’s a double life? The one that you live in front of the cameras, in red carpets and the one you live intimately?
Yes. In the end you have your real life and the one they make up in inteviews, not caring if what they’re saying is true or false. What’s true is that I’m too normal and I give them no material to write, so I’m an easy prey for make up stories. I should go wild and do crazy things so they have something to write about. My flaw for those tabloids is that I’m too calm and quiet (laughs).
And in those moments of intimacy and privacy, is it true hat you like to play the guitar? What do you do when you’re by yourself?
I do play the guitar. I have friends in Vancouver and I get together with them to play the guitar, listen to music. We spend the nights singing and swapping stories. I also do that when I’m at hotels. It’s relaxing. Music is my other passion. I hope I never leave it.
Speaking of passion and music, we know you write songs. What can you share about it?
I’m trying to write some songs for the next movie. I don’t know if it will be possible because of my schedule, but I want to do it. Music is the other side of me, it’s one of the things that complete me and I wouldn’t want to leave it aside for anything in the world. I have the intention of evolving in that aspect. It’s something I want to develope just as much as acting. I want to have a balance between those two things.
What other artistic endeavours are you interested in?
I always wanted to be a pianist and live in the south of France (laughs). But I’ve learned that it’s not important how you do things, but the final outcome. In life you always end up doing what you like. And nothing completes you more than that.
Do you have a spiritual side?
I believe in Karma. I believe it exists and whatever you do in your everyday life makes the eprson that you are. What you give in life comes back to you. I’m convinced of that, so I’m sure that everyday you have to be a good person and treat everyone with respect. We’re all connected.
We know you can’t say much about New Moon, but don’t leave before you tell us, did you have to go to some place dark to play this vampire again?
Yes, the truth is that the way I wanted to play Edward was less powerful. He’s a character that can’t change his condition, he didn’t choose his fate. He was unconcious when Carlisle turned him into a vampire. When he woke up, three days later, he realized that in oder to survive he would have to kill people. Imagine what would you feel like if you knew you would never grow old and that you would live forever. And what’s worse, you didn’t look for it. You become a sort of Superman without even wanting to be that, you were just a 17 year old kid. You must feel a huge impotence and frustration. Instead of believeing you’re hero, you’re a person who can’t find himself and doesn’t know who he is. Understanding that has been fundamental in understanding Edward. That very human side of him is what I love about him and I feel like I can relate to that. There’s something we all find hard to change and face about ourselves.
