Release date rumor for New Moon DVD

A Twitter user/Twilight fan found a New Moon promotional card in her copy of Bandslam, which lists a March 22nd release date for the release of the DVD. Please note this was found in the United Kingdom.

If you remember, the Twilight DVD was released in the US and UK on March 21st, 2009. Since Twilight and New Moon were released near the same timeframe in the theaters, it would not surprise us that the DVD release would be scheduled the same way.

Stephenie urges, buy this book!

Author of the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer, updated her website today. In the past she has suggested authors and books alike to us readers to help broaden our horizons. Today is no exception.

I hope you all are enjoying your holidays! Just a quick update about a book—arriving in bookstores tomorrow!—that I'm very excited about: The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg. If you've ever been out to one of my signings, chances are you've already met this debut author. If you haven't, but you've read the acknowledgements in any of my books, you've been introduced to her there. Elizabeth has been the publicist for my books from the very beginning, and has (clearly) done an amazing job. She's also worked with scads of other YA authors. Now her own YA novel is coming out and I'm so proud of her. Well done, Lizzy! I look forward to reading more from you soon!

“Eclipse is going to be more real” according to Charlie Bewley

OK! Magazine UK has a new interview with the actor Charlie Bewley who plays Demetri in New Moon and Eclipse, and he speaks about the differences between the two films:

“David is a master of mood. Eclipse has this different mood about it, it’s dark and vicious. You get to see the brutal nature of vampires and what they are really capable of, which is something we haven’t really seen in the first two movies.”

And the star told us David works very differently to New Moon director Chris Weitz.

He said: “They are very different directors. David understands what each scene needs [to create the dark mood] – absolute fine tuning. He might stop the scene halfway through and just tweak something before saying: ‘Go back, say that word again and I want you to put the emphasis on that’.

“It’s very controlled and when I was on set I found myself not being able to be as theatrically elaborate as I was with Chris’ film. But that’s exactly why David has been brought on board – to make this a more real film. Eclipse is going to be more real.”

When will the first Eclipse trailer be released?

The director of Eclipse updated his Twitter earlier today with word that he does not know when the first trailer will be released.

Overwhelming question I see again and again – When is the first trailer for Eclipse? I really don’t know I am afraid. I know they are working very hard on it. But I don’t have any idea when it will be out.

We look forward to seeing it when they do complete it!

Kelly Clarkson's song for New Moon

Earlier this year, there had been rumor that Kelly Clarkson (an admitted huge fan of the Twilight Saga) had submitted a song for the New Moon Soundtrack. The songs title is "Empty As I Am".

Here is the song she wrote.

Warning: This recording is not professional but personally I thought the song was very good. Enjoy.

Bryce Dallas Howard ready to ‘unveil her take’ on Victoria

In a recent interview with MTV, Bryce Dallas Howard discussed her experience shooting Eclipse and her portrayal of Victoria.

MTV: Would you say you studied Rachelle’s performance, to factor it into your own?

Howard: Well, I have seen “Twilight” innumerable times, innumerable. And yes, of course, I saw “New Moon” before doing “Eclipse,” because the continuity of the character is critical, and Rachelle had done a really exquisite job creating Victoria. It was really important to base all of my work on that. She set a very high bar, and I wanted to reach for that.

Godfrey confirms two-part Breaking Dawn production in late 2010

Variety has published a new article revealing two interesting pieces of information concerning Taylor Lautner, Breaking Dawn, and Summit.

Summit has acquired an untitled script by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson that is best described as a teenaged “Taken” meets “Die Hard.”

Dan Lautner will produce with Temple Hill partners Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.

Dan Lautner is the actor’s father, and the action project becomes the first project in Tailor Made Entertainment, a company they’ve formed to develop film and TV vehicles.

After an injury sidelines a teen’s plans to be an elite soldier, he tries to get on with his life by heading to college. There he meets a girl who convinces him to join her friends on a spring-break trip to Cancun. When his traveling partners are kidnapped and ransomed for the freedom of a drug-cartel leader about to be extradited, the college student uses his warrior skills to rescue them.

At the end of the article, Twilight saga producer Wyck Godfrey confirms that Breaking Dawn will begin shooting in late 2010:

Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.

Finally we’ve got a solid confirmation!

USA Today profiles Ashley Greene

USA Today has a new interview online tonight with Ashley Greene, the actress who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight films. She discusses her newfound fame thanks to the Twilight series and what is next:

Indies aside, she just landed the lead in The Apparition, a big-budget Warner Bros. thriller being produced by The Matrix’s Joel Silver.

“To be the lead in my own box-office film is just another step,” Greene says. “A couple of days before, I probably won’t be able to sleep, but I’m not even nervous about it now. … I’m just like one of those giddy girls who wants to make sure everything is perfect for the first day of school. I’ve already planned a week (before filming begins in Berlin) to turn off my cellphone and just focus.” And with even more screen time in New Moon, which has grossed more than $267.4 million to date, she’s familiar with the craze that comes with being in a box-office sensation.

“It’s so strange, because we spend months on set, and then it’s like, by the way, this is what’s been brewing while we’ve been working,” she says, referring to Twilight’s fearlessly devoted fan base.

Summit releases statement concerning the charges being dropped against woman who filmed New Moon in theater

The woman who was charged with attempting to pirate New Moon in theaters several weeks ago has had all the charges dropped against her.

Cook County prosecutors on Friday announced in court that they won’t pursue charges against Samantha Tumpach.

Tumpach was arrested Nov. 28 in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont and faced a felony charge of illegally copying the film.

She had about three minutes of “New Moon” on her digital camera. Tumpach has said she was taping her sister’s birthday party and wasn’t trying to record the movie.

Additionally, Summit has released a statement about the outcome of this case:

In regards to the situation with Samantha Tumpach, we applaud Muvico for upholding the zero tolerance policy on piracy when the incident occurred at their theater in Rosemont, IL. The pirating of films is a very serious issue and we all need to remain vigilant to protect the art of film and the myriad of businesses that the film industry supports. We believe that the attention that this incident has drawn, has served as a reminder to us all that any form of film piracy, or perceived piracy, will be treated with the utmost seriousness. Summit is pleased that all charges against Ms. Tumpach have been dropped and appreciate the efforts of the police and the prosecutors in this outcome.

Bryce Dallas Howard talks about working on Eclipse

MTV posted an interview with Bryce Dallas Howard on her role as Victoria in Eclipse. In the interview Howard provides details concerning the situation she was in when she took on the role and replacing Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria.

“They were looking for someone to fill that slot. It was right before production actually happened, so of course there was intimidation there and feeling a huge responsibility to do my best.”

She also talks a bit about the cast and what it was like working with them:

“They were really lovely and yes, it’s an incredible group of people. I have so much respect for them. There’s so much frenzy surrounding them, and they’ve remained grounded, and their friendships are so genuine. I felt very lucky to work with such a good group of people.

Woman charged with pirating New Moon, Chris Weitz comes to the defense

News recently broke that a young woman was arrested on a felony charge of illegally filming parts of New Moon as it played in a movie theater.

Today, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that New Moon director Chris Weitz is now sticking up for the woman. He argues that the woman should not be charged.

Weitz questioned whether her arrest was justified.

“There is, needless to say, a difference between trying to protect the copyright of a film and making an unfair example of someone who clearly seems not to have any intentions towards video piracy,” Weitz wrote.

He said he had contacted the studio that released the film, Summit Entertainment, to express his concern about her arrest, but he acknowledged there’s probably little he can do to influence the outcome of her case.

“I am not sure what effect I would have on the case,” he wrote, noting “the film is, after all, not my property.”

The Twilight actor almost went unnoticed as he went into the premiere via the back entrance but his presence was announced to the world by actress Katerina Graham, who tweeted,

“At the premiere of lovely bones and robert pattinson is here girls! Should I kidnap him for the fans? He’s sitting a few rows from me.”

Katerina shares one common thing with Robert, she too stars in a hit vampire saga with the TV series, The Vampire Diaries. You can catch The Vampire Diaries Thursday nights on the CW.

Possible New Moon DVD release in February?!?!?!

According to an article on Yahoo!, the New Moon DVD will be released in February 2010.

The quote came from an article commenting on Taylor’s new role in Max Steel (for information on Max Steel see last weeks post made by Jessica L.):

Mattel also recently announced that they would be releasing a Taylor-inspired Jacob Black Barbie doll (with major plastic abs) when the “New Moon” DVD is released in February 2010.

You may remember that the Twilight DVD hit the stores in March of this year, just four months after the film was released. It looks like we may only have to wait three months for New Moon!

Kristen Stewart's New Interview

1
MTV has an interview with Kristen Stewart.
Read the entire interview here.
Here is an excerpt:
With “New Moon” already a box office smash in its first few weeks, Kristen also turned her gaze towards next year’s “Eclipse,” dishing about working with Bryce Dallas Howard, who took over the role of Victoria from Rachelle Lefevre. “It was really good [working with her],” Kristen said. “Bryce is scary. She is really oddly sweet as well, so it’s weird to see her switch back and forth. Victoria, for Bella, is an ever-present fear — even when Victoria isn’t around, she is scared that she is coming back. Bryce is such a good actress, and it was easy to be scared of her.”
