Summit looks at possible directors for “Breaking Dawn”
In a small article posted earlier today, Entertainment Weekly reported that Summit is rumored to be looking at a select few Academy Award directors to take on the final installment of The Twilight Saga.
“The studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies.”
Though Summit declined to comment and representatives for Coppola and Condon have yet to respond, EW was able to confirm that director Gus Van Sant has been approached.

Chris Weitz's thoughts on directing Breaking Dawn
We still are not sure if or when Breaking Dawn will be filmed, or if it will be made into two films, but we do know New Moon director Chris Weitz may not be involved, according to an interview with MTV News.
“But I think I’m on record saying I have a 2-and-a-half-year-old son, and each one of these movies — especially because it’d be such a long shoot as ‘Breaking Dawn’ — it kind of brings me to the edge of my physical and mental endurance,” he said. “And I just don’t believe I have it in me, and I think that it’s appropriate that someone else go ahead and do it.”
He also spoke about the possible two-part 3-D movie, agreeing that Breaking Dawn should be two films and that 3-D could work.
“I think that 3-D is great so long as it’s not used in a gimmicky fashion and it can supply extraordinary depth to the visual experience,” Weitz told MTV News. “And it’s great because it brings people to the theater, and filmmakers always want people to see things in the largest format possible.”

Chris Weitz's biggest regret with New Moon
HitFix had the opportunity to preview the New Moon DVD Commentary and they revealed this tidbit:
Speaking to Weitz earlier this week, the director laughed about the moment and admitted that he discovered the mistake a bit too late.
“I think it could have been less than an Arcadian fairy tale running through the foresty movement and more of an abstract at Kristen flash on her face,” Weitz says of what he would have changed. “That would have avoided laughter, which wasn’t only heard at the premiere where there are cynics and jaded Hollywood types, but the most packed fan screenings.”

Oscar producers asked Stephenie Meyer and JK Rowling to present this year.
A report from The Los Angeles Times reveals that this year’s Oscar producers wanted Stephenie and JK Rowling to present an award together. However both ladies declined the offer.
The pair even wanted “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling and “Twilight” scribe Stephenie Meyer to present the adapted screenplay category, but Rowling was unavailable because of scheduling conflicts and Meyer, who is a Mormon, does not work on Sundays.
“The younger side of the audience has been drifting for years, so we’re more conscious of trying to build a youth element into the show,” Mechanic said.

Stephenie Meyer updates site
Stephenie Meyer updated her website last night with a message about Haiti and a book recommendation.
- I’ve been very impressed with the world in general and the Twilight fansites in specific in the support and love everyone is giving Haiti. It’s amazing to see how Twilight fans have come together to help. You are wonderful people. At this point, I think it’s important for all of us to remember that the situation in Haiti is not going to be cured overnight, so… keep up the good work, and let’s all keep the Haitians in our thoughts and prayers.
- A new book recommendation: I recently read and adored The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It was one of those books that feel absolutely perfect and satisfying, and when you finish it you sit around wishing that you could find another book just like it.

Last night TV.com hosted a live chat with Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli. In it he talked about his roles on both Nurse Jackie and Twilight along with his inspirations as an actor.
Peter Facinelli: My inspriations were Paul Newman and Robert Redford - Saw a movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and those guys looked like they were having a lot of fun and I decided that's what I wanted to do
Now I like Sean Penn and what he's doing. Gary Oldman. I like to be surprised by an actor - you never know what you're going to get and they don't play the same role.

“Vampires brought in 17% of all book sales tracked in 2009.” claims USA Today.
USA Today posted a new article online focusing on popular books in 2009. It reveals some interesting statistics related to the Twilight saga:
We have Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight vampires to thank, in part, for the fact that at least 17% of all book sales tracked in 2009 were related to vampires (and assorted other undead creatures, including zombies) or the paranormal (including paranormal romances). That was up from 14% in 2008, which in turn was way up from 2% in 2007.
Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are the inspiration for HBO’s True Blood, had nine titles in the top 100 sellers of the year, and P.C. and Kristin Cast, the mother/daughter team who write the House of Night series, had six. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith is No. 48 on the list. Expect that trend to continue in 2010, again thanks in part to Meyer. She may not have a new book coming out (that we know of so far), but Eclipse, the movie based on the third book in the Twilight series, swoops into theaters in June, and the paperback reissue of her 2008 adult hardcover The Host is out April 13.

Stephenie Meyer talks about the Breaking Dawn “drama”
There have been reports that Stephenie and Summit are feuding over decisions related to the production of Breaking Dawn.
To address these rumors, Stephenie has updated her site today:
Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip get fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story.

Will Breaking Dawn begin shooting in the fall?
According to a article from LA Times, the Producer Wyck Godfrey plans for Breaking Dawn to begin filming in the fall,
Wyck Godfrey, the producer of all the films in the “Twilight” saga, admits that the creative team still doesn’t know how they’ll handle the character in the “Breaking Dawn” movie, but said that the plan is absolutely for the production to go forward — as either one or two installments — with an eye toward beginning to shoot in Vancouver this fall. All three stars are signed for “Breaking Dawn,” he said, meaning that Stewart and Pattinson will be dealing with the joys and woes of interspecies parenting and newly minted heartthrob Taylor Lautner will return as often-shirtless shape-shifter Jacob Black.

Paramore’s “Decode” was a huge part of the Twilight soundtrack, but the band turned down an offer to be part of the New Moon soundtrack last year. In a recent interview with MTV, Hayley Williams, the band’s lead singer, explained why Paramore passed on New Moon and said contributing to the Eclipse soundtrack isn’t out of the question.
“We’ll see what happens in the future,” Williams said. “I don’t know — if it feels genuine. If we write a song, and I feel like it goes with it, I wouldn’t turn it down, but I wouldn’t force it.”

Stephenie urges, buy this book!
Author of the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer, updated her website today. In the past she has suggested authors and books alike to us readers to help broaden our horizons. Today is no exception.
I hope you all are enjoying your holidays! Just a quick update about a book—arriving in bookstores tomorrow!—that I'm very excited about: The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg. If you've ever been out to one of my signings, chances are you've already met this debut author. If you haven't, but you've read the acknowledgements in any of my books, you've been introduced to her there. Elizabeth has been the publicist for my books from the very beginning, and has (clearly) done an amazing job. She's also worked with scads of other YA authors. Now her own YA novel is coming out and I'm so proud of her. Well done, Lizzy! I look forward to reading more from you soon!

“Eclipse is going to be more real” according to Charlie Bewley
OK! Magazine UK has a new interview with the actor Charlie Bewley who plays Demetri in New Moon and Eclipse, and he speaks about the differences between the two films:
“David is a master of mood. Eclipse has this different mood about it, it’s dark and vicious. You get to see the brutal nature of vampires and what they are really capable of, which is something we haven’t really seen in the first two movies.”
And the star told us David works very differently to New Moon director Chris Weitz.
He said: “They are very different directors. David understands what each scene needs [to create the dark mood] – absolute fine tuning. He might stop the scene halfway through and just tweak something before saying: ‘Go back, say that word again and I want you to put the emphasis on that’.
“It’s very controlled and when I was on set I found myself not being able to be as theatrically elaborate as I was with Chris’ film. But that’s exactly why David has been brought on board – to make this a more real film. Eclipse is going to be more real.”

Bryce Dallas Howard ready to ‘unveil her take’ on Victoria
In a recent interview with MTV, Bryce Dallas Howard discussed her experience shooting Eclipse and her portrayal of Victoria.
MTV: Would you say you studied Rachelle’s performance, to factor it into your own?
Howard: Well, I have seen “Twilight” innumerable times, innumerable. And yes, of course, I saw “New Moon” before doing “Eclipse,” because the continuity of the character is critical, and Rachelle had done a really exquisite job creating Victoria. It was really important to base all of my work on that. She set a very high bar, and I wanted to reach for that.

Godfrey confirms two-part Breaking Dawn production in late 2010
Variety has published a new article revealing two interesting pieces of information concerning Taylor Lautner, Breaking Dawn, and Summit.
Summit has acquired an untitled script by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson that is best described as a teenaged “Taken” meets “Die Hard.”
Dan Lautner will produce with Temple Hill partners Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.
Dan Lautner is the actor’s father, and the action project becomes the first project in Tailor Made Entertainment, a company they’ve formed to develop film and TV vehicles.
After an injury sidelines a teen’s plans to be an elite soldier, he tries to get on with his life by heading to college. There he meets a girl who convinces him to join her friends on a spring-break trip to Cancun. When his traveling partners are kidnapped and ransomed for the freedom of a drug-cartel leader about to be extradited, the college student uses his warrior skills to rescue them.
At the end of the article, Twilight saga producer Wyck Godfrey confirms that Breaking Dawn will begin shooting in late 2010:
Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.
Finally we’ve got a solid confirmation!
